Frequently Asked Questions — Aranyaani Forest Campus

Direct, Authentic Answers for Parents on Academics, NIOS, Fees & Campus Life

Is NIOS recognised?

Aranyaani builds academic foundations across the primary and middle years and follows the NIOS pathway for secondary education. NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) is a national education board established under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. NIOS offers flexibility in subject choices and examination schedules. Families are guided through the secondary pathway, examination process and transition to further study. NIOS qualifications can be used for further study and entrance examinations subject to the eligibility requirements, required subjects and other conditions of the institution or programme concerned.

Will my child get a strong academic foundation?

Yes. Nature is not an alternative to academic rigor; it is the living context that gives academic knowledge meaning and permanence. In the primary years (Classes 2–4), NCERT learning benchmarks are integrated for Mathematics, Environmental Science, English, and Kannada. In middle and secondary years, learning transitions into structured NIOS competencies, laboratory experiments, and geometry in carpentry. Children develop genuine conceptual mastery, critical thinking, and sustained focus without rote pressure.

What curriculum does Aranyaani follow?

Our curriculum evolves progressively: Class 1 focuses on nature immersion, sensory awakening, and oral language; Classes 2–4 blend nature with NCERT foundational standards; Classes 5–7 follow the NIOS middle-school framework; Class 8 provides foundational board study; and Class 9 studies the official NIOS Board curriculum with flexible subject choices.

Do children have examinations?

During Classes 1 to 7, Aranyaani does not conduct conventional competitive examinations, percentage rankings, or numerical grading. Student progress is mapped through qualitative observation, descriptive written feedback, and comprehensive learning portfolios. In Classes 8 and 9, students prepare systematically under the NIOS Board curriculum through guided practice, past papers, and conceptual mastery in a calm, non-punitive atmosphere.

Can a child move to another school later?

Yes. Because foundational and primary learning blocks (Classes 2–4) are mapped to NCERT developmental competencies, children maintain the cognitive, mathematical, and linguistic foundations required for standard schooling streams. Aranyaani provides comprehensive qualitative portfolios, detailed academic transcripts, and documented developmental records. For secondary transitions, NIOS is a nationally recognized board under the Ministry of Education.

What are the fees?

Aranyaani is a non-profit initiative operated by the Foundation for Right Education, Trust (FORE). Fees are structured on a sustainable, cost-recovery model—covering facilitator livelihood honorariums, upkeep of the 10-acre forest campus, nutritious organic midday meals, and natural crafting and learning materials. Complete fee schedules and annual contributions are shared transparently with parents during the scheduled one-on-one Campus Dialogue Session (Step 3 of the admissions procedure). Need-based concessions and trust-assisted payment plans are open for discussion directly with the Trust during this meeting.
